Teti is a small agro-pastoral town nestled at the foot of the summit of Punta Sa Marghine on the western slopes of the Gennargentu.
This town overlooks the artificial basin of Cucchinadorza and some |
landscapes of great environmental and archaelogical interest and value, the marvellous woods of evergreen holm-oaks, cork and oak trees, where copious spring waters flow, as well as the two big nuraghic settlements of Abini and S’Urbale, which have now become major attractions for visitors.
These nuraghic villages are perfectly preserved. They were unexpectedly discovered around the middle of the |
|
19th century and consequently became the object of archaeological excavations in which numerous remains of immense artistic value were uncovered, allowing a faithful reconstruction of the daily life of ancient Sardinian people.
|
The village of S’Urbale is only two kilometres from Teti, in a strategical position, 900 metres above sea level, overlooking the valleys of the Taloro river, this is the reason why this big nuraghic village-sanctuary was very important, 50 dwellings have so far been found. |
|
The abundance of remains and objects found in this area is probably due to the fact that its inhabitants suddenly abandoned the village because of a hugely devastating fire. The nuraghic village-sanctuary of Abini, 15 km from Teti also offers a great wealth of archaelogical remains. The architectural and building structure of the dwellings, the ruins of a temple, as well as numerous bronze statues confirm that the village of Abini was used for |
religious purposes, probably in connection with the cult of water. As legend goes, the first inhabitants arrived in Abini in search of wonderful treasures which came to a boy in his premonitory dreams. Up to this moment this area had always been thought to be cursed.
A museum has recently been opened in Teti, the exhibitions display numerous bronze objects and impressive ceramics; as well as a model of a hut of the nuraghic village of S.Urbale. |
