The Consorzio Imbrifero del Taloro is a public body which intends to promote and enhance the cultural identity and value of the territory of the towns which form the Bacino Imbrifero del Taloro (the rainfall basin of the Taloro river). Thirteen municipalities make up this society whose headquarters are in Gavoi, they occupy an area which includes Barbagia di Ollolai, Barbagia di Belvì and Mandrolisai, 80,000 hectares in total with a population of 29,000 inhabitants.

The main goal of BIM - Taloro is the economical and social advancement of their inhabitants and the economical and tourist development of the area, which is expected to be reached through a series of activities such as: land works in the mountain areas; implementation or enlargement of industrial or handicrafts businesses; training of skilled labour; coordination of the various local authorities for the maintenance of the road system; support to tourist, cultural, sports, social and voluntary initiatives; realisation of works of public interest; promotion of initiatives aiming at safeguarding the local culture, language and folklore traditions, especially through its library which adds and gives support to all the libraries of the BIM towns.
